  • Logista Freight moves forward with its sustainability strategy, reaching an agreement with L’Oréal Groupe to incorporate electric vehicles

Logista Freight, a Logista company specialising in long-haul transport, has just launched an initiative alongside L’Oréal to contribute to a more sustainable future in freight transport.

Thus, L’Oréal has incorporated the first electric truck to make direct short-distance deliveries to customers in the Henares corridor, a development that is part of its sustainability programme “L’Oréal For The Future”, which has specific environmental and social aims that the beauty company is committed to meeting by 2030. In particular, the world’s leading beauty company is seeking to reduce greenhouse gas emissions linked to the transportation of its products by 50%, compared to 2016.

The electric truck is part of Logista Freight’s fleet, contributing to the expansion of its fleet of increasingly sustainable vehicles. This vehicle produces zero local emissions, meaning it emits no pollutant gases or particulate matter during its journey.

Likewise, this addition is accompanied by the installation of its own electro-lubrication station at Logista’s facilities in Cabanillas del Campo. The electric car station can produce 100% renewable energy since it is powered by electricity generated by solar panels and has an ultra-fast charger, allowing for fast and efficient charging to optimise the route. Thus, it takes two hours to reach an 80% batter charge and has a post capacity of 180 kWh.

Thanks to the use of the electric truck, in the pilot test conducted last January, a reduction of 2,043 kg of CO 2was achieved, calculated using the WTW method, providing annual saving of more than 24 tonnes.

This initiative was presented in Cabanillas, where representatives of Logista and L’Oréal showed the installation of the electro-lane together with the electric tractor and trailer and highlighted their commitment to decarbonising the sector so as to contribute to a sustainable future. The event was attended by Álvaro González-Escalada - General Manager of Logista Freight -, Manuel Andrés Atienza - Business Development Manager - and Eugenio García Muñoz - Commercial and Security Manager - on behalf of Logista. L’Oréal Spain and Portugal was represented by Pablo de Valdenebro Garrido - Operations Director, Moisés Solís Barragán - Transport Manager, Delia García Gómez - Sustainability and CSR Director, and Cristina Garzón and David González, Customer Care Managers of L’Oréal Spain and Portugal.

During the presentation, Álvaro González-Escalada from Logista Freight stressed that “this initiative reflects our strong commitment to sustainability. We work not only to meet our customers’ quality and service demands but also to work towards a more sustainable future in freight transport. This collaboration with L’Oréal is a significant step forward in our environmental management.

Pablo de Valdenebro, Operations Director of L’Oréal Spain and Portugal, said: “At L’Oréal, we are working to lead the sustainability transformation by reconfiguring our transportation model and actively engaging with our entire value chain, from suppliers to our customers. For some years now we have been working on last mile delivery with sustainable vehicles. Through strategic partnerships such as this one with Logista and some of our main customers, we continue to progress with determination towards a more efficient and environmentally friendly supply chain, in line with our global sustainability strategy, L’Oréal For The Future”.

Logista Freight is furthering its commitment to reduce carbon emissions by continually optimising routes, renewing transport fleet agreements including efficiency criteria, thus promoting a progressive increase in the fleet of increasingly efficient and less polluting vehicles.
